The CM Venture Capital team was part of the 2024 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo from 5-8 June.
With China leading the way in clean energy generation – wind power and PV power generation ranking number one globally – the event features nearly 600 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions, including HK, Switzerland, UK, Germany, France, Indonesia, USA, Belgium, Japan, Spain Denmark, Sweden and more. The event took place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), halls E1-E5 & N1-N5. Our booth was in Hall E3, as part of the Yangpu District’s low-carbon development exhibition space – we thank the Yangpu District govt for the golden opportunity. Being based in Shanghai’s Yangpu District, we’re excited to share the future of green development with global audiences at the event.
The CM Venture Capital booth featured 3 portfolio companies – Enwise, Sengong and Econic – with a focus on low/zero-carbon initiatives.
Enwise develops on-site energy plants for food factories/industries to transform their organic waste into bio-energy. The AI-powered dry-anaerobic on-site energy plant converts organic waste into bioenergy, with leftovers from the process upcycled as agricultural fertilizers. Nothing goes to waste. The system can supplement as much as 30% of a food factory’s daily operational energy needs. PepsiCo China’s Wuhan factory (Lay’s Potato Chips) has integrated this innovative system into its operations, making use of its waste potato peels to offset its daily energy needs and earn carbon credits. Other notable customers include Oatly, Nestle, Mars and more.
Sengong develops its own world-class, affordable and environmentally friendly PVA materials. They’re mostly used for laundry pods, but Sengong has also innovated the dissolvable PVA material as reusable packaging glue strips. They’ve also developed a version that dissolves in 100˚C water, made into reusable courier bags, tough enough for daily use. When the bag wears out after about 50 times of use, the worn-out courier bag can be returned, dissolved and recycled into brand new bags.
Econic Technologies’ CO2-infused carbon foam (PU) samples were also present for visitors to better understand revolutionary materials made with waste carbon. Not only does Econic’s technology make use of captured waste CO2 effectively, the final material formula also enhances the performance of the product, such as increased durability. Application is easy as well: Econic uses a catalyst-based system, which can be simply integrated into existing production lines.
We’d also like to thank our partners Mitsubishi Corporation, NRI (Nomura Research Institute) and Arkema for making time to visit us at our booth!
